What is a co-op? Starting in the fall, we will be hosting short info sessions on co-operatives: what they are, what we do, the legalities, their history, etc. From September 2018 until June 2019, each monthly session will provide an opportunity for you to learn more about how co-operatives are making a difference in Victoria. The Co-op Café events will feature retail, transportation, housing, food, social justice and additional financial co-ops in our community. We will also be hosting a political panel in March, and our January Cafe will be a movie night with popcorn. As a group, we will explore many interesting topics.
Contact us to discuss.
Join us at our first Co-op Café
VHC invites you to get to know more about your local co-ops at our first Co-op Café on Saturday, September 29th from 11 – 12:30pm at James Bay New Horizons (234 Menzies St.). Every month we will feature a local co-operative that is doing good things for our community.
We welcome Coastal Community Credit Union (CCCU) as our co-host of the September Co-op Café. As a financial institution focusing firmly on the Island, CCCU is an active partner in a number of community ventures. Find out why they are expanding in our area and what new services they offer.
We invite you join the discussion and share your views about co-ops and how we can contribute to our communities. Enjoy refreshments and good company. Give project leader Bruce Livingstone your suggestions. Say “thank you” to the City of Victoria for sponsorship. Get the agenda for the next monthly Co-op Cafés. We are looking forward to collaborating with you!
